The Wildhorse Foundation has announced its 2011 first-quarter grant recipients and more than $195,000 will be given to area applicants covering areas from Little League to education and public safety.

The Wildhorse Foundation was established by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation as a result of its gaming operation.

Recipients in 2011’s first quarter in the area of sports include Pendleton Babe Ruth, Pendleton Little League, Friends of La Grande Ice and Event Centre and Mountain High Broncs and Bulls in Enterprise.

Pendleton Little League will receive $7,500 for upgrades to Field No. 2 by adding a new score tower storage shed, umpire room, batting cage and handicapped accessible bathroom.

Pendleton Babe Ruth will receive $4,600 for a new John Deere Gator Cart to be used at Bob White Field.

Mountain High Broncs and Bulls will receive $5,000 for rough stock holding pens, bucking chutes and improvements to Wallowa County Fairgrounds.

Friends of La Grande Ice and Event Centre will receive $5,000 for the second phase of construction on a sports court.
