ONTARIO Undefeated Blue Mountain Community College volleyball scored its 11th win in NWAACC play on Wednesday over Treasure Valley.
The 25-21, 25-22, 25-21 match was the No. 1 Timberwolves third to last of the regular season. If BMCC (36-4, 11-0 NWAACC-East) wins its next two, it will clinch an NWAACC-East division championship on Saturday.
Sophomore tandem KC?Schmit and Rebecca Haight combined for 13 kills on the night to lead Blue Mountain. Freshman Rebecca Kershner gave the matchs most impressive statline with a season-high five solo blocks.
Kershner did not disappoint her family, who drove from McDermott, Nev., to watch her play.
Blue Mountains final regular season matches will be versus Columbia Basin on Friday and No. 3 and defending NWAACC champion Spokane on Saturday. They will both be at home, and if won, the Timberwolves will play the No. 4 seed in the West region to start the playoffs.
No bones about it, we need a big crowd for them, coach Dave Baty said.
Though poised to be East division champions, Blue Mountain will not be satisfied without being crowned NWAACC champions.
Were not going to stop and turn back at our work yet, Baty said. Our focus is narrowing and were looking in front of us.
