PENDLETON The Rollin Schimmel Memorial Wrestling Foundation (RSMWF) of Pendleton recently awarded scholarships to eight Pendleton High School seniors, the highest number of scholarships in a single year for the foundation.
Congratulations and $500 awards were presented to David Hippe, Roman Holcomb, Wayne Fitzpatrick, Cammeron Rinehart, Andrew Robinson, Alex Simonton, Maggie Stewart and Jacob Watkins.
Each recipient participated and supported the PHS?wrestling program all four years of high school.
Many helped with the kids wrestling program, and some with the junior high wrestling program. As a team they placed fifth at state, and the leadership and cohesion of the senior class helped with their success.
Two of the recipients earned Eagle Scout honors. Two students have joined the National Guard, and all eight have been accepted to college or a trade school.
They have each shown a propensity to move forward with their goals and be contributing, productive members of their community, said Mike Arbogast in a press release.
The RSMWF mission is to provide assistance to community youth in an effort to allow them to reap lifelong benefits found through participation in the sport of wrestling. The RSMWF is committed to improving the sport of wrestling, developing outstanding athletes and producing quality, educated citizens.
