To publish in both the East Oregonian and Hermiston Herald, the minimum charge is $150 for up to 400 words; overage is priced the same.

One standard head-and-shoulders photo is included in the price. For non-traditional or extra photos, there is an additional charge of $25. Photos must be attached to your email as a separate file, not embedded in the obituary document.

Obituaries for veterans include an American flag icon for no additional charge. Flag or military branch icons for non-veterans are available for an additional $25.

The price includes 10 copies of the newspaper containing the obituary, which are mailed to the submitting party. For obituaries appearing in both newspapers, 5 copies of each of the newspapers will be mailed.

Submitted obituaries also must include the following information: Name, address, phone number and email address of the person submitting the information; and the name and city of the funeral home that handled the arrangements.

Once received, the obituary will be processed and you will receive a return email with a form detailing the cost for publication, and an 800 number to call to make payment over the phone with a credit or debit card.

Payment must be received by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication in the East Oregonian (Tuesday through Saturday publication). Obituaries appearing in the Hermiston Herald (Wednesday only publication) must be received and paid by no later than noon Tuesday for the following day’s paper.
